RISE TOGETHER Event
A Valley-Wide Night of Worship, Prayer, and Mission
What (Mission)
RISE TOGETHER is a Gospel-centered gathering of evangelical churches from across the valley for Christ-exalting worship, missional & intercessory prayer, and the collective action of giving to support Samaritan’s Purse’s U.S. Emergency Relief work.
Evening Elements
Worship — Worship will be through well-known modern praise songs and some hymns collected from CCLI’s Top 100. The worship team will be composed of instrumentalists from one local church’s band, while the lead vocals will rotate between worship leaders from partnering local churches. All worship leaders are being invited to be a part of a choir as well.
The Lord’s Supper — To affirm our unity under the saving grace of Jesus Christ, we plan to take the Lord’s Supper together, affirming the symbolism of the elements and communion with Jesus.
Prayer — Interspersed in worship will be Scripture readings & prayer times inviting people to get into groups of 2-4 to pray together with prompts that will cover various current issues (continued relief of Hurricane victims, the shift in the U.S. government post-election and its social implications, etc.) We will pray for God’s kingdom to come and for the fruitfulness of our local churches across the valley in unity and the Great Commission. Prayer prompts will be led by local church pastors/leaders.
Giving — We are looking to feature a guest speaker from Samaritan’s Purse (possibly Ruth Graham) to lead us with a brief call to give. The offering will specifically go to Samaritan’s Purse and their U.S. Emergency Relief work. We can even include a collection drive to fill a shipping container with various supplies.
Why? (Vision)
God has already done the deep work of uniting churches across the valley. This gathering aims to missionalize this unity of Augusta County Churches, calling us to RISE TOGETHER to start the new year in celebrating the Gospel of Christ together through song, interceding together for the most current and pressing needs, and giving together to bless those in need in the name of Christ. By uniting together for a mission, to partner with organizations like Samaritan's Purse, we strive to be a beacon of hope, demonstrating the transformative power of faith in action.
Who?
All evangelical churches across Augusta County and the Shenandoah Valley.
Basic Arrangement of Gathering
1) A scripture reading will open our hearts to receive God’s instruction for how we should pray according to the prayer prompt to follow.
2) A one-sentence prayer prompt will be given, and the people will be called together to pray in groups of 3-4.
3) A song of worship that relates to the prayer prompt given will be led.
4) The Lord’s Supper will follow instructions in 1 Cor. 11; people will have collected the elements at a table as they enter the facility.
